Tips for the Week… Dating
1. You are allowed to date. I don’t care if you are a single mother or father, you don’t have to be celebit for the rest of your adult life!
2. Don’t parade dates in front of your children. You are free to date whoever you want, but it doesn’t mean that your children need to meet every person that you go out with. Only introduce them when you feel the relationship is very serious
3. Don’t lie: This doesn’t mean that you have to tell your children everything, but don’t make up excuses for why they were at grandma’s. Tell them what you are doing according to what you feel is age appropriate.
4. When you go out be present with who you are with. Nothing sabatoges a relationship more than feeling guilty about leaving your children while you are on a date.
5. Expect that your children will resist your new significant other. Give them time to adjust and be open to discussing how they feel, but remember that your are the parent and your decisions are final.
