It really is all about me!

Okay, so you are newly divorced or about to be there and you are totally focused on making sure your kids are okay, right.  Well here’s something to think about.  It doesn’t matter how much you "do" for them or how much pain you shield them from.  They will not be okay unless YOU are okay.  Basically, you want your kids to end up all right, make yourself alright!  Stop the blaming, the guilt, the fear.  Force yourself to think of only positive things and positive emotions.  Surround yourself with only positive people who want to see you succeed, who want to help you with your situation.  Stop reliving the past and live in the present.  Plan for your future, but really be with your kids.  That means, really listening to what they have to say. I’m not saying that you arent’ going to still shed a few tears, I’m just sayting you still have to live.  You have to not only survive this, you must thrive! You know the saying "If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy?"  It doesn’t get much more real then that!

I’m wiping a tear from my eye. You “done” me proud, Len. Congratulations. You win the dirty double dog dare!
